Welcome to all of the new year 7s in Phoenix house this year! They have all settled in well and it was lovely to get to meet so many of the new parents at our settling in evening.
We also have a new student leadership team this year. Our Captains are Charlotte Ainge and Ella Thomas. They are supported by our Vice-Captains Evelyn Farrow, Elsbeth Wesson, Stephen Parry and Harry Sandilands. They have taken ownership of their roles brilliantly. Charlotte and Ella are working hard to sort out teams for inter-form competitions and the vice-captains are doing really well checking with the different forms to ensure house time runs smoothly!
All of the students have made a brilliant start to the year, have welcomed in their new additions both in year 7 and other year groups, are are working well to maintain the spirit of the house. I am sure this year will be as positive for Phoenix house as las year was!

Head of Phoenix House
PHOENIX UPDATE FEBRUARY2017:
Phoenix are still at the top of their game! A big congratulations to PH3 for winning the inter form quiz and Ph2 on their excellent attendance of 98.2%. This week the forms will be taking part in another inter form competition involving their teamwork skills and communication, in a basketball shooting game where the most baskets wins. The past week it was Pancake Day and our Head of House, Miss Turner, did an assembly on the history of the magical day and sent the forms away from it with a fun challenge to create a pancake with any topping of their choice and use their creative minds to create the best pancake EVER! We look forward to seeing what more Phoenix can achieve in the coming weeks.
Signing off, your Phoenix House Captains.
PHOENIX UPDATE NOVEMBER 2016:
We are Phoenix house! Lead by the enthusiastic Miss Turner, our Head of house, and her leadership team of Calum Davis and Katharine Blackshaw, the proud House Captains. The House Captains are helped along the way by their vice captains Megan, Dan, Tia and Ella. We so far have successfully held two inter-form competitions, which are competitions held by the leadership team where the form groups in Phoenix go head to head to compete for a reward at the end of the year. By doing these competitions it helps members of Phoenix build teamwork and communication skills. The first competition was a fun memory game where the form groups had to memorise a picture and then return to their form group and colour in what they remember. There were two winners, a big well done to PH3 and PH5 who walked away victorious! The second competition was a test to see how well the forms groups could communicate with each other and organise themselves. They had to get into a line and pass the ball over their head and then the next person would pass it under their legs. The winning groups were PH4 and PH5 who finished at the same time resulting in a shared win. So far we are pleased with the spirit and participation of all the leaders and students in Phoenix house and look forward to taking part in future projects!
Calum and Katharine
PHOENIX UPDATE DECEMBER 2016:
Over the past 2 weeks Phoenix have been tremendous! We have had our first competition against the other houses and to no surprise we came out on top thank you to Adam Atton , Luke Matts and Kyle Oaks for participating in the penalty shootout. We had our 2nd inter form competition which was a quiz about all kind of general knowledge and PH2 had a spectacular win followed by an excellent effort from the rest of the forms. All forms are now putting their creativity to the test by designing an advent calendar door in the spirit of Christmas. Well done Phoenix , keep it up!
Just like everyone else, our children need a place to play, laugh and love life. A place where they and their families are cared for and supported. Welcome to Rainbows – the East Midlands’ hospice for children and young people.
Making the differenceSadly, some children simply don’t live long enough. Since 1994 we’ve opened our doors and hearts to those children and the people who love them most. And now more than ever, we need your help to keep on bringing care and happiness to our children and families.
As the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, Rainbows is a place where life-limited children and their families can find care and support. Our incredible team of people helps relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, support parents and siblings through their bereavements and care for children until the end.
